PHRONESIS Medical training was founded in 2016 by Hicham "Sammy" EL Houdaigui in San Diego, California.

Sammy started his career in home respiratory care in 2004 and has held many different positions from patient services to field RT. In 2014, He transitioned from the clinical side of respiratory care to management and clinical operations. 

Sammy holds a bachelor's of science degree in respiratory therapy, and is a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in the sate of California. He is also a BLS/CPR instructor through the American Heart Association. 

As a Respiratory therapist with over 16 years experience in the homecare field, Sammy understands the training needs of healthcare workers in today's challenging environment. He believes in sharing his personal experience with other healthcare workers through his classes and provide his students a real life experience.

Our Name

“Phronesis” refers to "Practical wisdom", an individual’s capacity to discern what is worth doing together with the ability to get it done. It is an umbrella cognitive capacity that coordinates judgment, understanding, and insight to result in effective action.

A capacity acquired through experience, PHRONESIS Medical Training helps practitioners to ask penetrating questions, provide insight into the implications of actions and events and to advise appropriate courses of action.

“Phronesis” involves the ability to understand how complex and messy situations hang together, and to discern the affordance whereby appropriate actions might be founded.
